Decided to eat here after walking around and it was a huge mistake. ITS A TOURIST TRAP! I did not realize then and there as it’s my first time in Japan, and man did they exploit that. The staff was extremely nice but there were no locals, other restaurants in the area also serve wagyu AND Kobe beef wagyu for 1/5 the price. Second red flag was they tried to upsell us on EVERYTHING. “this is small get two, this is one portion” etc etc. They were also VERY pushy on us ordering, standing and watching us decide, continuously recommending we needed to get their most premium kobe beef not anything else, didn’t leave us for a moment to stop and think about the prices or convert it on our phones. Kept saying the MOST popular was of course their most expensive which was around 90,000 yen. Plus there was absolutely nothing else on the menu to choose from. Outside of the store conveniently had their pricing covered by meat displays so that didn’t help. We also tried to get a wagyu sushi set - cheapest option. And it was awful. I don’t think any meat is supposed to be that chewy no matter how raw it is. Final red flag was they asked for a tip. Everyone and anyone keeps telling me not to tip as its offensive - if anything there may be a service fee depending. but this restaurant had a service fee then suggested 18% - 25% tip ON TOP of the absurd price tags. 250g for 50,000 yen? You guys are messed up. This is my BIGGEST regret in Japan. Went back to the hotel with a massive stomach ache from both the food and the realization that we got taken advantage of. I feel so sad and so exploited. I’m sure the couple that sat next to us felt exactly the same.
