I had an experience at this restaurant that left me feeling as though I may have been TAKEN ADVANTAGE of. 😟 I would like to share the details of my dining experience, and you may interpret them as you see fit. 🧐 However, my overall impression was that this establishment felt like a TOURIST TRAP. 😠 Upon entering, I noticed a poster menu outside advertising Kobe beef sushi for approximately 1200 JPY. 🍣 Inside, the staff and chefs greeted me with what I perceived as an overly enthusiastic or THEATRICAL WELCOME, which I found to be a bit much. 🎭 When I requested the menu, I observed food prices such as 99,000 JPY and other figures, including 10,000 JPY. 💸 I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and ordered a 10,000 JPY beef dish, anticipating it would include a side dish. 🤔 To my surprise, it was simply a plate of thinly sliced beef. 🥩 I am uncertain if this is a standard price for such a small quantity of beef, as I have seen Kobe or Wagyu beef offered at more affordable prices elsewhere. 🤷‍♀️ The chef attending to me was quite performative. 👨‍🍳 They even went out of their way to acknowledge my birthday, singing and providing two slices of cake. 🎂 While I appreciate the gesture, I found it to be rather loud, which seemed a bit uncharacteristic of Japanese culture, as I understood Japanese people to be considerate of others' peace and quiet. 🤫 Regarding Japanese culture, when it was time to pay, I was charged an additional 5% for a service charge. 🧾 I was then informed, "OUR BOSS IS CREATING A TIPPING CULTURE..." 🗣️ I cannot recall the exact wording, but the essence was that they desired a tip for the chef who served me. 💰 Subsequently, I was presented with a paper offering tipping options of 18%, 20%, or 22%. 📝 While I am generally open to giving tips, I had understood that tipping in Japan was considered impolite within their culture. 🙅‍♀️ since i was charged of 5% service already, I said i will only give 10%. Furthermore, before I proceeded to pay, I was asked to provide a review in their presence. ✍️ I politely declined, stating that I would take a photo and submit a review later. 📸 Honestly, if you are a first-time traveler to Japan, I would advise caution when considering restaurants that heavily promote their positive reviews. ⚠️ See my photos for your reference. 🖼️ Furthermore I leave it to you if youd rather experience their entertainment while eating the overly expensive beef or just a real authentic Japanese culture experience while eating kobe or wagyu beef. 🇯🇵
