I don’t recommend this place not because the service is bad, but because it’s very much a tourist trap. The service itself is three stars for enthusiasm and you definitely get a full-on show. It’s loud, energetic, and very similar to a hibachi-style performance, which is great for families and kids. That said, I came here expecting a restaurant experience, not a performance. If this were marketed more clearly as a dinner show, expectations would be better aligned. One thing I really didn’t like was how much pressure there was to tip, which felt out of place, one star rating for that. I also wouldn’t consider this an authentic Japanese dining experience. If you’re looking for traditional Japanese food or a glimpse into real Japanese food culture, this isn’t it. It’s more of a high-energy entertainment experience, which is totally fine just not what I was looking for when I sat down to eat. They strongly recommend the most expensive meat options, but honestly, the cheaper cuts (less than half the price) tasted better. Overall, this is an experience you might enjoy elsewhere, but it’s not something I’d suggest making a point to do in Japan.
