We visited Kobe Beef Wagyu Katana Nishi Shinjuku No. 1 Branch about a year ago and had a good overall dining experience in terms of the beef quality and the food itself. I have no doubts about their meat selection or cooking.
However, I am writing this review now as a reminder and warning to current and future customers regarding their checkout experience.
At the time of payment, we were presented with a separate tipping slip and were put under noticeable pressure to leave a 5-star review. This felt uncomfortable and inappropriate.
In Japanese dining culture, tipping is not customary, and pressuring guests for tips or reviews is extremely rare. This behavior was disappointing and does not align with the service values many visitors expect in Japan.
While the food was good, this experience left a negative impression. I hope future guests are aware and can make an informed decision.
As customers, we should feel free to say No to such practices.
